Let’s talk about change for a quick moment. I hear a lot of people always talking how they wish their situation in life would change or that they want a better body or they want a better job. Well do I have news for you! For only $49.99 a month you can have all the change you want! Just email me your name, address, and social and I’ll get to work changing everything you don’t like about yourself and your life. Whoa! Wait! Sorry! That’s not going to happen because the fact is, if you want something to change you have to put in the work yourself and make that change happen.
Too many people sit on the sidelines of life and watch as others live it to the fullest and wish and hope and dream of one day when they will get to do that too, but they never lift a finger to make that happen. This post isn’t going to be filled with a lot of sage advice, but I wish for it to serve as a written kick in the face for anyone who has been hoping, wishing, waiting on the world to change. It took a feeling like I was hit by a bus for me to wake up and realize that I need to put in some work. This kick in the face will hurt much less than a bus, but don’t let that make you think it will be any easier. Change is hard, but worth it.
If you’re sitting there and thinking to yourself that you don’t have time, money, or energy to do all the things you want to do, I have to tell you that you’re wrong. You have all the time in the world to do the things you want to do. The problem is so many people have other things they prioritize over the things they want, such as binge watching “Stranger Things” or going out and getting drunk with friends. I’m not saying you should cut entertainment and friends out of your life, but if you want to have time, money, and energy to travel, eat right, workout, change your career or where you live, or who you spend time with, you have to make sacrifices of the things that don’t directly relate to your end goal.
For about a month I stopped writing this blog. I stopped making comedy videos. I stopped doing all the things that for months I was writing about trying to inspire others to get out and do work. I got lost. I let the Universe do too much of the heavy lifting and expected rewards for it. I was soooo wrong. After my brains were smeared all over the windshield of that metaphorical bus, I scooped them all up and began to rearrange the pieces in a form that was much more positive and focused. I knew my goals and my dreams and I decided to stop at nothing to make those things happen. Since then I have not wasted a single moment of my days. I have chosen to live everyday like it was my last and so far it was rewarded me in so many good ways. That’s the thing about it all, I chose to put in the work. I chose to change my life and my way of thinking about the world and lo and behold I became a happier person. In no way am I where I want to be, but it all starts with the choice to change. After you make the choice to change your life, your mind, your job, or your health, you then take it a day at a time and never give up. Never give up because it takes putting in the work every day to see the results you want. I’ll say it again, change is hard, but it is worth it in the end.
